Stress: Take Charge is a stress management program designed and tested specifically for the Canadian Military as part of Strengthening the Forces, to improve the health and well being of the serving member.

Stress: Take Charge is a self-directed approach to stress management through self-awareness, behavior change and skill building.  It will support participants in their identification of the strategies that they already use and those that they will begin to implement in order to optimize their stress hardiness.

Stress management is a daily balancing act that has an impact on physical and mental well being.

The Stress: Take Charge program consists of eight 2.5 hour modules that cover the following key objectives:

  • Session 1: Understanding Stress: What is stress anyway?
  • Session 2: Stress Assesment: Are you stressed out?
  • Session 3: The Relaxation Response: Can you sit still for a minute?
  • Session 4: Sense of Control: What can you do?
  • Session 5: Stress and the Military: What's unique about military stress?
  • Session 6: Stress and Lifestyle: What is the connection with exercise, eating habits and sleep?
  • Session 7: Stress and People: Are they allies or foes?
  • session 8: The Stress of Constant Change: Is change as a rest?

If you are interested in booking a 1 to 3 hr briefing, please contact Kevin Strachan at local 4675 or Strachan.K@forces.gc.ca

This is not a treatment program.
