CDS's Health & Physical Fitness Strategy
"Health and Fitness for Life"GOAL: to strengthen the existing culture of health and physical fitness, thereby improving the capability of our men and women in uniform to meet operational requirements.CDS's five key messages:Health and physical fitness are "commanders" business. Leaders are accountable for health and fitness of their units, while individuals are personally responsible for their health and fitness level;Health and physical fitness are essential components of operational readiness and mission sucess, particularly in complex operational environments where conditions are mentally and physically demanding; The CF is commited to "entrenching a culture of health and physical fitness". This means a CF where all individuals of the military community are physically active, eat well, maintain a healthy weight, and live addiction free;Health and physical fitness are not tasks - they are a lifestyle choice with life enhancing benefits. Healthy and physically fit soldiers have a lower incidence of chronic disease, improved self-confidence, fewer injuries, are better able to withstand stress; they are dependable, capable and effective comrades-in-arm; andThe CF will provide the means for all CF personnel to adopt lifelong commitment to healthy living.
