The Recreation Department at CFB Petawawa offers an array of fitness classes designed to meet the many needs of our community.  Whether you're new to fitness, new to retirement, or new to Petawawa - we have a class to meet your needs.

   CLASS DESCRIPTIONS   
Body Sculpt-Balance your fitness routine with a class dedicated to muscle strength and endurance.  A full hour of exercise is designed to tone, strengthen and define every major muscle in your body.   This non-impact class works your muscles with weight-bearing exercises, hand weights and body bars.    
Cardio Kickboxing-  A cardiovascular class that combines aerobics and kickboxing.  Learn punches, kicks and drills to improve your cardiovascular endurance and co-ordination.  You'll skip, jab, punch, and best of all, you'll have fun!

Spin Aerobics - Bike like you have never biked before!  This is an awesome cardio-based cardio based class that will have you spinning through intervals, hills and sprints.  Hot Wheels is designed for those who want a more intense ride, while our beginner spin is for anyone who always wanted to try, but was to intimidated.  Your instructor will ensure proper technique and success.  Find the class that works for you!. 

 

 

Step It Up! - This classic step class will make you sweat with fun choreography and sweet tunes.  Basic step patterns along with athletic power moves really get your heart pumping! 

Beginner Step - Step on up and see what the buzz is all about.  A little slower pace with all the fun.

Shape Up - A class designed for older adults or the "new-to-fitness".  This class combines light cardio and resistance trainging with an emphasis on technique and endurance.  If you have made the commitment to become more active, then this is the class to Shape Up!

Pilates - A series of exercises that place intense concentration on your core.  The Pilates Method combines exercises that engage the core, elongate the body and eliminate stress with mental concentration and breathe work.

Boot Camp - Get ready to sweat! This class is full of intervals, circuits and drills designed to get your heart pumping and muscles burning.  It will be the class you love to hate.  No choreography.

Yoga - A relaxing Hatha Yoga class aimed at improving strength and flexibility through a series of poses breath work and relaxation.  Paricipants will experience the many health benefits of this ancient exercise.

Power Yoga- Binyasa Yoga is a dynamic vigorous class that flows from pose to pose in varying sequences, creating movement that builds strength & flexibility.  All levels of fitness welcome.


WOMEN ON WEIGHTS - Not sure how to use the fitness equipment at Dundonald Hall?  Then this course is for you.  A personal trainer will ensure that you know how to use the equipment and also how to train to get the most from your workouts.  This three hour course will give you the confidence and knowledge to endsure a safe and effective workout.  Please contact the Rec Plex at 613-687-2932 for more information.
